Bihar CM lays foundation stone of 11,346 roads and 730 bridges under Rural Works Development

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 11346 roads and 730 bridges at a cost of Rs 21406.36 crore under Rural Works Department through remote. During the program, Additional Chief Secretary of Rural Works Department Deepak Kumar Singh gave detailed information to the Chief Minister about the schemes of rural roads and bridges started and laid the foundation stone today through a presentation.

In the presentation, Deepak Kumar Singh also shared the updated status of construction of rural roads and bridges scheme wise under Rural Works Department, details of renovation / upgradation of constructed rural roads, progress and updated status of Rural Road Strengthening and Management Program, Chief Minister Rural Connectivity Scheme (Remaining), Chief Minister Rural Bridge Scheme and Sulabh Samparkta Scheme.

 Addressing the program, the Chief Minister said that the Rural Works Department is constructing and maintaining rural roads and bridges in a very good manner, for which I congratulate the department. He said that through many schemes including Rural Road Strengthening and Management Program, Chief Minister Rural Connectivity Scheme (Remaining), Chief Minister Rural Bridge Scheme, Sulabh Samparkta Scheme, the construction of paved roads to the tolls of every village has been ensured so that people can get convenience in transportation. We have provided basic facilities to the people everywhere in Bihar, be it urban areas or rural areas, every possible effort is being made to make it better.

While giving instructions to the officials, the Chief Minister said that the schemes whose work has been started and foundation stone has been laid today should be completed within the stipulated time frame, take special care of this. With the construction of these roads and bridges, people will get more convenience in transportation.

Additional Chief Secretary of Rural Works Department, Mr. Deepak Kumar Singh welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him a green plant.

 It is noteworthy that under the Rural Road Strengthening and Management Program, the Rural Road Strengthening and Management Program has been started in the year 2024 as a new component of the Chief Minister Rural Road Upgradation Scheme. Under this, a total of 5 thousand 47 paths (length 8 thousand 893 km) whose total approved amount is Rs 6 thousand 198 crores, whose work has been started today.

Apart from this, the foundation stone has been laid for a total of 4 thousand 79 paths (length 6 thousand 484 km) whose total approved amount is Rs 5 thousand 627 crores.

Through the Chief Minister Rural Bridge Scheme, the Chief Minister's Bridge Scheme was earlier implemented for the construction of bridges / access / paths etc. left on rural paths for smooth connectivity in rural areas, which has been restarted.  Under the Chief Minister Rural Bridge Scheme, work has been started on 409 bridges, whose total sanctioned amount is Rs 1,859 crore and under the State Scheme, work has been started on 5 schemes, whose total sanctioned amount is Rs 48 crore. Under the Chief Minister Rural Bridge Scheme, foundation stone has been laid for a total of 295 bridges, whose total sanctioned amount is Rs 1,792 crore and under the State Scheme, foundation stone has been laid for a total of 24 schemes, whose total sanctioned amount is Rs 279 crore.

Under the Chief Minister's Gram Sampark Scheme (Residuary), Chief Minister's Gram Sampark Scheme (Residuary) has been started to provide all-weather single road connectivity to the isolated settlements / hamlets with a population of 100 or more in the state of Bihar.  Under this scheme, work has been started on a total of 301 roads (length-490 km), whose total sanctioned amount is Rs 618 crore and foundation stone has been laid on a total of 1 thousand 908 roads (length-3 thousand 397 km), whose total sanctioned amount is Rs 4 thousand 884 crore. Apart from this, foundation stone/work has been started for a total of 8 schemes worth Rs 101 crore under Sulabh Samparkta Yojana.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Water Resources cum Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Rural Works Minister Ashok Chaudhary, Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Amritlal Meena and other senior officials were present.
