As Part Of ‘De-Addiction’, Punjab Police Convince 14 Persons To Undergo De-Addiction Treatment: Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” to eradicate the drug menace from state, consecutively for the 216th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 328 locations on Friday.

During the raid, 47 drug smugglers were arrested after registration of 45 first information reports (FIRs) across the state, according to the state government press release today.

With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 31,684 in 216 days, the press release read. 
It stated that the raids have resulted in the recovery of 2.3 kg of heroin, 3.1 kg of opium, 25 kg of poppy husk, 1584 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 3250 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.

 Notably, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has asked the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendent of Police to make Punjab drug free state.
The Punjab government has also constituted a 5-member Cabinet Sub Committee led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema to monitor the war against drugs in the state, according to the press release.

Over 120 Police teams, comprising over 1000 police personnel, under the supervision of 67 gazetted officers, have conducted 328 raids across the state. Police teams have also checked as many as 351 suspicious persons during the day-long operation.

The state government has enforced a three-pronged strategy— Enforcement, Deaddiction and Prevention (EDP)— to eradicate drugs from the state, the Punjab Police as part of 'De-addiction’ has convinced 14 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
