India's UPI launched in France news: India officially introduced UPI at the renowned Eiffel Tower On Friday, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aspiration to globalize UPI. The Unified Payments Interface, an instant payment system, devised by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), was established in 2016. 

India's UPI launch in France marks a significant step towards fulfilling the vision of taking India's innovative payment system to an international stage. The Eiffel Tower setting symbolizes the grand unveiling of UPI, showcasing the country's technological advancements in the financial domain under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. The NPCI's pioneering efforts in creating this seamless payment interface have positioned India as a key player in the global financial technology landscape.

During his visit to France in July last year, PM Modi announced an agreement between India and France related to the UPI payment machanism. He had said that Indian tourists in France would be able to make payment in Rupees. 

While addressing the Indian community at La Seine Musicale in Paris on July 14, 2023, PM modi said, "Be it India UPI or other digital platform, they have brought a huge social transformation in the country and I am happy that India and France are also working together in direction. India and France have agreed to use UPI in France".
