
Leh: To disseminate technical know-how of various agro-animal technologies developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) among the local farmers residing in the high-altitude cold desert trans-Himalayan region, a “Ladakhi Kisan Jawan Vigyan Mela” is being organised by the Defence Institute of High-Altitude Research (DIHAR) in Leh.
Leh: To disseminate technical know-how of various agro-animal technologies developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) among the local farmers residing in the high-altitude cold desert trans-Himalayan region, a “Ladakhi Kisan Jawan Vigyan Mela” is being organised by the Defence Institute of High-Altitude Research (DIHAR) in Leh.
The 24th such event in the series, it was inaugurated by the General Officer Commanding, 14 Corps, Lt Gen PJS Pannu, today. The Adviser, Department of Biotechnology, Dr T Madhan Mohan, was also present. Lt Gen Pannu evinced keen interest in DIHAR’s research on the use of double-humped Bactrian camel for load carrying, trench cultivation technology, vegetable production under mulching, normobaric hatchery technology and growing sweetest variety of apricot in Ladakh, which are an important contributing factor towards the nation’s food security as well as socio-economic uplift of the region.
