Dharamshala: The charred body of a Tibetan was found in a forest near the Dalai Lama temple at McLeodganj, creating panic in the area. While many Tibetans suspected that it could be another act of self- immolation, police officials say the post-mortem report would reveal the fact.
Sources said the body was noticed by a Tibetan passerby around 4 pm. He informed Tibetan settlement officials about it. By evening when the news spread in the area, a large number of residents started gathering on the spot. Many Tibetan websites cast apprehensions that this could be another case of self-immolation.
In the last two years, more than 150 Tibetans have committed immolation to protest the Chinese rule in Tibet.
Sources also said the place, where the body of the Tibetan youth had been recovered, was used by Tibetans to invoke the deities through incense ceremonies. The DSP, Headquarters, said a forensic team had been called to examine the body and spot. The deceased had not been identified.
