Shimla: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said that the vandalism and hooliganism being indulged in by the BJP won’t be tolerated as they are trying to make a mountain out of molehill just to make headlines.

“I have the utmost respect for the Gaddi community and my remarks have been twisted by some people and the the BJP is now politicising the issue,” he said while addressing a gathering at Ghandir in Jhanduta Assembly segment in Bilaspur district today. He added that there is always a peaceful way to protest and not by taking law in their hands and create furor like the BJP did.

Virbhadra said an additional amount of Rs 16 crore has been sanctioned for completion of Bagchaal bridge and work has been allotted to Gammon India Private Ltd. “They have been directed to complete the left out work within the next two years. The bridge will benefit more than 20,000 population of 17 panchayats located on left bank of Govind Sagar and 25,000 population of 19 panchayats on the right bank of the river connecting Naina Devi ji and Jhandhuta,” he said.

He added that the construction of the bridge would shorten the distance on opposite ends of the river by around 70 kms from Bilaspur and Swarghat. “This was my dream project which is now going to be fulfilled soon,” he said.

He said that Gammon India stopped decking work on the ground as strata around the pier was not the same as envisaged during designing the foundation. However, revised proposal for foundation of bridge pier was submitted and now work has been resumed.
