Rohtak: The All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) has decided to hold more rallies to press for their quota demand and expedite the implementation of their agreement with the state government. A decision to this effect was taken at a state executive meeting of the samiti held here today.

Interacting with mediapersons after the meeting, samiti president Yashpal Malik maintained that the state authorities had agreed upon six demands of the samiti at a meeting on March 19.

“While some of the demands have been met, work on others is still pending. Besides, BJP MP from Kurukshetra Raj Kumar Saini has been making derogatory remarks against our community and its leaders. We will hold a state-level rally in Jhajjar on August 27 to remind the state leadership of its commitments,” he stated.

As per the decision taken by the samiti’s state executive, the next rally will be organised in Hisar on September 13 and the third rally, the venue for which is yet to be finalised, will be held on November 24.

Malik said an institution dedicated to skill development and helping the students prepare for competitive examinations would soon be established and named after Chaudhary Chhotu Ram.

On being questioned about the allegations of misappropriation of funds collected through the AIJASS dharnas during the Jat quota stir, he said the allegations were baseless and the persons levelling these were playing in the hands of certain political leaders of the ruling as well as opposition parties.

Malik said representatives of the samiti would meet BJP president Amit Shah during his visit to Rohtak and apprise him of their concerns.
