Synthetic track halts in its tracks

Karnal: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced an eight-lane synthetic track for the Karan Stadium on December 14, 2016, but no progress has been made in eight months.

Karnal: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced an eight-lane synthetic track for the Karan Stadium on December 14, 2016, but no progress has been made in eight months.

The department claims that it will start work soon, but the proposal file of the Rs 7.82-crore project is pending with the Director, Sports Department, for approval.

After the approval of the Director, it will go to Sports Minister Anil Vij for the final approval. The Public Works Department (PWD) has approved the estimate.

The purpose behind this project is to build confidence among budding players for national and international events. The stadium has a mud track, which is not comfortable for athletes during inclement weather.
