Karnal: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today sought a clarification from the Union Home Ministry about the change in sections in the FIR registered against Vikas Barala, son of state BJP president Subhash Barala, and his friend Ashish Kumar for allegedly stalking senior IAS officer VS Kundu’s daughter Varnika Kundu.
He said the ministry should explain why and on whose instructions the sections included in the FIR were changed? Hooda was interacting with mediapersons at the residence of former state Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Sharma here. He demanded justice for Varnika and her family. He said Subhash Barala’s resignation from his post would not serve any purpose. “Varnika is our daughter and justice should be delivered to her,” he added.
Hooda, accompanied by Kuldeep Sharma and MLA Karan Dalal, hit out at the government over the issue of law and order, electricity supply and development. He criticised changing of the names of a medical college in Bhiwani and of a medical university in Kutail. The government had been taking credit for the works done by the previous Congress regime.
He said the government has failed to even provide doctors in Kalpana Chalwa Government Medical College and Hospital in three years. He added the government should give the option of online payment to farmers.
Asked why Congress leaders were having separate programmes to highlight the same issues, he said all of them were exposing the government. He added he was not fighting to become Chief Minister but to highlight the plight of farmers. “I am not among people to become Chief Minister. I had held the office for 10 years. I am among public to highlight their grievances and issues,” said Hooda.
“I will again start Kisan Panchayats from September 3,” he added.
