Faridabad: The local police have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information or clues about six persons involved in the gang rape of a 19-year-old mentally challenged girl on July 7. This is the second time that a cash prize has been announced for the arrest of the rape accused in the district.

A spokesperson for the department said today that the six accused identified as Atroo, Zahid, Khurshid, Shamim, Amjad and Mubin, all residents of Badkhal village, have been absconding since July 7 when the incident took place. The six youths had caught hold of the mentally-challenged girl and gang-raped her at a secluded place around 8.30 pm that day. “Though a case was registered at Surajkund police station, the culprits have been absconding since then,” said Pankaj Kumar, SHO of Surajkund police station.

He said a reward of Rs 10,000 would be given to anyone who provides information on the accused. The police had earlier announced a reward for the arrest of another accused involved in a similar crime, he added. The police, however, had managed to arrest the accused, who hailed from Anangpur village.

In another incident, the police have registered a case on a complaint by a woman that a person known to her had raped her and was blackmailing her. She said accused Sunil had made a video clip of her after she fell unconscious after consuming a cold drink laced with sedatives during a function two years ago.
