Chandigarh: Beginning August 2, the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP Government is set to shift to Haryana’s political capital—Rohtak— during the three-day visit of party president Amit Shah.

The BJP president’s visit to the Jatland as part of the ‘vistaar yatra’ in the run-up to the 2019 Assembly and parliamentary elections will be used by the BJP regime to blow its own trumpet before the central leadership.

With that end in mind, the Chief Minister and his ministerial colleagues, party legislators, besides the BJP office-bearers, would camp in Rohtak for three days.

A report card of the Khattar Government, highlighting government’s achievements during its over 1000-day rule would be presented before Shah. The presentation of the report card before Shah would be used by Khattar to project himself as the ‘tallest’ leader in the state and silence his critics within and outside the party and the government.

A few weeks back, a section of the MLAs had raised a banner a revolt against the functioning of the state government. The matter later reached the party high command which seemed to have ‘mollified’ the disgruntled MLAs as they had been lying low for the past several weeks.

Currently, the BJP Government has launched an intensive advertisement blitzkrieg in the media titled “Raj Manohar, kaam hazaar as part of its “sab ka saath, sab ka vikas” campaign to celebrate the completion of 1,000 days of the Khattar Government.

BJP sources said the party had finalised Rohtak for its chief’s visit as it would enthuse the party cadre in the state in general and Jatland in particular. Besides, the BJP wanted to checkmate former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on his home turf in the Jatland (Rohtak, Jhajjar and Sonepat) ahead of the 2019 parliamentary and Assembly elections. The BJP Government is already cornering Hooda by filing a series of CBI cases for his various acts of omission and commission.
