Yamunanagar: Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Arvinderjeet Kaur stopped the marriage of a minor girl, a resident of Pabni Khurd village in Yamunanagar district, on Tuesday. She said she received an anonymous call that a 16-year-old girl from Pabni Khurd village was being married off to a boy from Isharpur village in the district.

The members of the girl’s family were told that she could not be married off till she attains the age of 18, she added. The officer said they gave an understanding that they would not solemnise the wedding until the girl attains the marriageable age.
