Chandigarh: The All-India Federation of Government Doctors Association sought improvement in working conditions, good infrastructure in hospital, increase in budgetary allocation for health and incentives for rural service.
Led by association president Rajesh Khyalia, a delegation of government doctors from across the country met Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Saturday and submitted a memorandum.
Khyalia, Deputy Director in the state Health Department, said the minister as well as the Health Secretary had a positive outlook towards their demands aimed at improving the delivery of services as well as the working conditions for them.
“We have demanded that the Central Medical and Health Protection Act should be made more stringent and readily applied in the country in view of rampant assaults on doctors. Security guards or police personnel should be deployed at all block, subdivisional and district hospitals. In this connection, we cited the Supreme Court directives in the case of Jacob Mathews versus State of Punjab,” said Khyalia.
