Akal Takht Jathedar Urges Central Government to Address Farmers’ Demands

The Jathedar’s statement comes as a strong endorsement of the farmers’ cause.

Akal Takht Jathedar on Farmers’ Protest and Jagjit Singh Dallewal Latest News: Giani Raghbir Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has made a heartfelt appeal to the central government, urging them to address the concerns of farmers currently protesting in the bitter cold.

Speaking about the ongoing agitation led by farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh said, “The central government must listen to the farmers’ demands. It is disheartening to see Jagjit Singh Dallewal and other farmers sitting on a dharna in such harsh weather conditions. Their struggle represents the voice of the common man and the backbone of our nation.”

The farmers, protesting under freezing temperatures, have been demanding resolution of longstanding issues, including fair prices for crops, loan waivers, and other systemic reforms. The Jathedar’s statement comes as a strong endorsement of the farmers’ cause and highlights the importance of dialogue to resolve the impasse.

As the spiritual head of Sikhism’s highest temporal authority, Akal Takht Jathedar’s words carry significant influence, especially in Punjab, where a majority of the farming community belongs to the Sikh faith.
