Chennai: 'Superstar' Rajinikanth is likely to meet his fans in the last week of this month, sources close to the actor said today.

This will be the second such meeting this year after the interaction in May when the actor dropped some hints of taking the political plunge. The sources added plans were afoot to hold the fans meeting from December 26 to 31.

It is expected to be a photo session like the previous meeting and could be held at the actor's sprawling Raghavendra wedding hall here.

The political circle in Tamil Nadu is abuzz with speculation about the actor making his political entry, especially after his call earlier this year asking his fans to "prepare for war", seen as his hint of the political plunge.

At the fans' meeting in May this year, he said, "When war comes they (professionals) will come to the rescue of their motherland.. I have a profession, work, duty and so do you. Go to your places, do your duty, take care of your vocation.. Let us face the war when it comes."

He had also complained that the "system is rotten" despite the presence of leaders like DMK's M K Stalin and Anbumani Ramadoss of PMK.

The veteran star has not made any loaded statements after that but his contemporary Kamal Haasan has gone ballistic against the ruling AIADMK on corruption, hinting he might make the political plunge.

In 1996, Rajinikanth had publicly criticised the then AIADMK government led by J Jayalalithaa on the law and order front, and had backed the then DMK-TMC combine, which swept the polls.  PTI
