Panaji: Director R S Prasanna is all for happy endings as he likes the space of "feel good" cinema. His debut Hindi film "Shubh Mangal Saavdhan" dealt with the problem of erectile dysfunction but the story ended on a positive note. Prasanna plans to stick to making films with positive endings. "There are enough bad guys winning in the world already. In movies, I want to see hope. I love thrillers but I always want the good guy to win. I don't understand why people look down upon positive endings," Prasanna says in an interview with PTI.

The director believes every person is looking for happiness in life and cinema can be major a source of that. "Indian people are happy and nice, so they like happy endings. I have been to a film school where people looked down upon positive ending concept. We all seek happiness in life. For me, cinema is one of the last hopes for mankind. When good guys win in the movie, you feel nice." Featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, "Shubh Mangal Saavdhan" was well received by the audience.

Prasanna is enjoying his time in Bollywood as he believes he has a freedom to write the "kind of films" he wants to make. "I am here. I am hungrier and greedier than most people because I want to make a lot of films." The director, however, believes one needs to be grounded to have a long inning and should be aware of the fact that flops will come their way too. "I believe as long as a filmmaker is grounded and knows the flaws in his film and is honest, he will have a long inning, with some flops included.

"The best people have had hits and flops in their lives. If you want to have only hits in your life, probably you have just started," he says. Prasanna has already started writing his second Hindi project, with Siddharth Roy Kapur attached as a producer. "I am working on my second Hindi film. Siddharth Roy is producing the project. I have just started writing. It will have all the fun elements. "But it won't be an adult comedy. It is going to be a fresh film. Again, it will entertain the viewers and have a message. I am excited but I am also nervous and scared," he says. The director was speaking on the sidelines of IFFI.
