Mumbai: Superstar Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu are happy to have gotten back keys of their Pali Hill property on Tuesday. The property was possession of real estate firm Prajita Developers Pvt Ltd.
Saira Banu shared the news on Twitter and wrote, “Message from Saira Banu ‘Sahab (Dilip Kumar) and I took possession of the property which has been his residence for decades.
Hon’ble Supreme Court restored the possession to us. Sahab is overjoyed. Sharing some photos. Thank you, friends n fans innumerable who have prayed for us.”
The SC turned down the plea of Prajita Developers for enforcement of the agreement but appointed a former judge as an arbitrator. Kumar had entered into an agreement with the firm in 2006.
The construction was to be completed in two years but the firm failed to do so and the actor approached the court to get his property back. The actor had also received around Rs. 8.5 crore from the company in interest.
The court accepted the actor's proposal to pay Rs 20 crore to the firm to get back possession of the land.
As in its August 30 order, the court on Thursday noted that only question that is left to be decided is whether developer was entitled to any further damages and if so, its quantum, It said that same would be decided through arbitration by its former judge, justice P. Venkantarama Reddy,
