Diljit Dosanjh Faces Legal Notice After Ludhiana Concert

This is not the first time Diljit has faced backlash for his music during his tour.

Diljit Dosanjh Faces Legal Notice After Ludhiana Concert Latest News: Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has landed in legal trouble following his Ludhiana concert on Tuesday night, which marked the conclusion of his Dil-Luminati India tour. A complaint has been lodged against Dosanjh for allegedly performing songs that promote alcohol consumption.

The complaint was filed by Punditrao Dharenavar, an assistant professor from Chandigarh, who expressed concern over the singer's choice of songs and their potential influence on young audiences. Dharenavar alleged that despite prior warnings, Diljit performed his popular alcohol-themed songs, albeit with slight alterations to the lyrics.

Previously, Dosanjh had received a notice advising him to refrain from performing songs like Patiala Peg, 5 Taara Theke, and Case (Jeeb Vicho Feem Labbiya), which critics claim glorify alcohol consumption.

This is not the first time Diljit has faced backlash for his music during his tour. Earlier, he was served a notice by the Telangana government before his Hyderabad concert, asking him to avoid songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence. Similarly, his concerts in Pune and Indore saw restrictions on serving alcohol and meat, following protests from groups like the Bajrang Dal.

In response to the ongoing criticism, Diljit addressed the issue during his Ahmedabad concert, challenging the government to implement a nationwide alcohol ban. “If all states declare themselves as dry states, I pledge never to sing about alcohol again. This is a major source of revenue—liquor shops remained open even during the lockdown. You can't fool the youth," he remarked, defending his position.

The controversy continues to spark debate about the impact of popular music on society and the responsibilities of artists in shaping public narratives.
