JALANDHAR: In an unfortunate incident that has raised concerns about the conduct of law enforcement personnel, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Jalandhar Police was found under the influence of alcohol as he wreaked havoc on the streets, damaging four vehicles in the process. The incident took place in Jalandhar city, Punjab, casting a shadow on the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related issues in the state.

The Errant officer, identified as ASI Jaspal Singh, employed at the Jalandhar Police Line, reportedly embarked on a destructive spree while inebriated. His rampage resulted in damage to three vehicles before culminating in a collision with a car parked in the vicinity of a private hotel.

Dr. Manish, the owner of the car parked at the hotel, recounted the sequence of events. He had parked his vehicle in the hotel's parking lot and attended a meeting inside the establishment. Approximately 15-20 minutes later, he received an alert from the hotel staff, informing him that his car had been struck by an unidentified vehicle.

Upon investigating the situation, Dr. Manish discovered that ASI Jaspal Singh had collided with his car and several others, causing substantial damage. The New Baradari police station promptly responded to the commotion, apprehending ASI Jaspal Singh. Subsequently, he was transported to the police station and later to the civil hospital for medical treatment.

While at the hospital, ASI Jaspal Singh, still under the influence of alcohol, provided various explanations for his actions. He attempted to attribute his conduct to personal grief, claiming that his young son had recently passed away. However, the police officers responsible for bringing him in for medical treatment refuted these claims, asserting that only one vehicle had been struck during his drunken rampage. The Jalandhar Police Department is expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, and appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law.
