Punjab govt to plant 2 crore saplings
Chandigarh: The Punjab government has set a target of planting two crore saplings across the state in this year. Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot today called a high-level meeting here of official from his department and said the state government is planning to acquire land alongside roads and to plant saplings on it.

Chandigarh: The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has taken strong notice in a matter pertaining to delay in the supply of free textbooks to the SC students of 1st to 10th standard. A meeting in this regard was today held here under the Chairmanship of the Chairman of the commission Mr. Rajesh Bagha with the officers of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Education Department and Welfare Department.

Two run over by trains in separate accidents
Phagwara: Two men were killed after they were run over by trains in two separate incidents in Phagwara district, the Government Railway Police said today. The deceased were identified as Amritpal Singh (25) and Sanjay Kumar (28), it said.
