SAD to launch agitation against Congress on July 25
Chandigarh: The political affairs committee (PAC) of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today decided to launch a ‘jabar virodhi lehar’ to raise its voice against the excesses being committed against Akali workers by Congressmen, even as it warned chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh not to barter away the interests of the State on the SYL canal issue under any circumstances.
Partap Bajwa raises issue of 39 missing Indians in Iraq
New Delhi: The Congress MP from Rajya Sabha, Partap Singh Bajwa raised the issue of 39 missing Indian nationals in Iraq for the past three years and asked the government to provide information about their fate. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Bajwa said 40 Indians, of whom 90 per cent were from Punjab, were kidnapped in Iraq by the ISIS in 2014.

Punjab Panchayat by-elections on August 6
Chandigarh (Jai Singh Chhiber): The Punjab State has announced the date of Panchayati by-elections for the seats vacated by various Sarpanchs. The information was given by the Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa. The polling will be held on August 6 i.e. Sunday. The date of filing nominations from 24th July to 27th July and scrutinizing will be done on 28th July.
Badungar criticises centre for imposing GST on langar
Ambala: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Kirpal Singh Badungar today criticised the centre for imposing the Goods and Services Tax on langar and likened the same to ‘jazia’. Speaking at a religious event held at Gurdwara Panjokhra Sahib in Ambala Cantonment, Badungar said, “The GST is similar to ‘jazia’ imposed by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. We have repeatedly requested the Centre to reconsider its decision and exempt religious places from the GST but received no response.”
