Governor oversees rescue operations, announces relief
Srinagar: Governor NN Vohra, who is also Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, expressed grief over the deaths of 16 Amarnath pilgrims in an accident near Ramban after their bus plunged into a gorge.
Ramban-Banihal stretch a deathtrap for pilgrims
Jammu: Amarnath pilgrims, who come from all parts of the country and abroad, have been witnessing bad roads in the Jammu region. A 36-km-long accident-prone crucial stretch between Ramban and Banihal has virtually turned into a death trap for pilgrims due to the poor condition of the track. A casual approach being adopted by policemen in managing the traffic has further added to the woes of pilgrims.

2 students washed away in Beas river
Kullu: Two students were washed away in Beas while having a dip in the river near Bashing, four km from here, yesterday. A group of five students reportedly went to have bath in the river. Unfortunately, two of them were washed away in the strong water current. The other three students informed the parents of the victims who further informed the police about the incident. All the students were studying in class VI in a school at Bashing.
Police team sent to locate missing Chandigarh trekker
Kullu: To locate a trekker from Chandigarh who had gone missing on his way back from Shrikhand Mahadev in the Anni subdivision of the district on July 4, a police team along with a trekker dog has been sent today.
Fresh floods damage houses, snap road links
Shimla: Following flash floods triggered by rain at the Pashgaon Khad near Ganvi in the Rampur subdivision of Shimla district, five water mills and some foot bridges linking adjoining villages were washed away, two houses were damaged and road connectivity was snapped between Ganvi and Fancha and Ganvi and Jagori villages. However, no loss of life was reported.
Two killed as car falls into canal
Sonepat: Two women were killed when the car they were travelling in fell into a canal near Nuran Khera village in Sonepat district today. They were coming for a religious function in Gohana. The car driver, Sub-Inspector Dharambir Saini, was yet to be traced.
