Chandigarh: The police have constituted a special state-level task force to tighten the noose on wanted criminals, including serial killers and those indulging in organised crimes like drug trafficking, extortion and contract killing.
The chief officer of this task force will be an IGP-level officer who will have his office in Gurugram. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar approved a proposal to this effect during a meeting of the Police Department here today. He directed officers to carry out special campaigns for quickly nabbing the accused wanted for crimes such as snatching, theft, dacoity, extortion and kidnapping.
Steps should be taken to find out the sources of drugs and curb drug trade. Officers were told to coordinate with CM’s Flying Squad and district police to nab persons involved in adulteration.
Khattar directed the State Vigilance Bureau and local police teams to carry out investigations and inspection of the police and other departments to check corruption. Officers were directed to strengthen internal vigilance systems in different departments.
Giving special directions for maintaining social harmony in the state, the Chief Minister said close vigil would be maintained on social and caste-based issues at all levels. Efforts would be made to check smuggling of liquor and maintain law and order. Officers were told to closely monitor even small matters and take immediate action.
Taking cognisance of Junaid murder case, the Chief Minister directed the police officers to maintain special vigil on such social and caste-based matters. He told them to ensure speedy investigation to nab the accused and seek strict punishment for them.
