Parole jumper returns to jail after 25 years
Thiruvananthapuram: Twenty-five years after he jumped parole, a murder convict returned to the central jail here, much to the surprise of prison authorities. Nazar (55), who is suffering from cancer, turned up at the central jail, Poojapura, here last evening, police said. Hailing from Mattancherry in Kochi, Nazar was convicted in a murder case along with four others in April 1991.

Six killed in cloudburst in Doda
Bhadarwah/Jammu: Six persons were killed and 11 injured after flash floods triggered by a cloudburst wreaked havoc in Thathri town of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir today, inundating vast areas along the Batote-Kishtwar National Highway and washing away half a dozen houses. While 11 persons have been rescued from the debris, many others are feared trapped and the toll is likely to rise, police said.

Woman gives birth at health centre’s gate in F’bad village
Faridabad: A 23-year-old woman gave birth near the entrance of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Tigaon village of Faridabad district this morning as no staff member was available. The expectant mother, Priyanka, of Prahaldpur village, was brought to the PHC around 6.20 am for delivery.
