HC notice to Sajjan Kumar on plea to cancel anticipatory bail
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court today sought the response of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar on a plea seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to him by the trial court in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
SIT probing anti-Sikh riots cases examined 1,000 witnesses
New Delhi: The SIT set up by the Centre for re-investigation of the 1984 Sikh riots cases examined more than 1,000 witnesses in different states, the Rajya Sabha was informed today. Minister of state for home Hansraj Ahir said the Special Investigation Team has scrutinised records of 293 cases and after scrutiny, a total 60 cases were re-opened for further investigation.
Noisy scenes in RS over lynching in the name of cow protection
New Delhi: The issue of killings in the name of cow protection reverberated in the Rajya Sabha today with the opposition creating noisy scenes after government said the states have all the powers to deal with such incidents and there was no need to change the existing law. Amarnath attack: Police suspected the involvement of slain militants
Anantnag: Three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants, killed in a brief encounter in Anantnag on Monday evening, are suspected to have been involved in the attack on Amarnath pilgrims on the evening of July 10. The attack, carried out in the Battengoo area of Anantnag, left eight pilgrims dead and as many as 32 injured.
