Kolkata Doctor Rape and Murder Case Latest News Today: The trial in the high-profile rape and murder case of a Kolkata doctor began on Monday, three months after her body was discovered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The proceedings took place in-camera in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Anirban Das, with the main accused, Sanjay Roy, present.

Roy, who was brought to court in the afternoon, repeated his claim of innocence, alleging he had been falsely implicated by authorities. Speaking briefly to reporters while being escorted away, Roy stated, “I have done nothing and have been framed. They didn’t let me speak even today.” He also accused former city police commissioner Vineet Goyal of conspiring against him.

Roy faces charges under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (rape), Section 66 (causing death or a vegetative state), and Section 103 (murder). He was arrested on August 10, a day after the doctor’s body was discovered. Following his arrest, the Calcutta High Court transferred the investigation to the CBI due to the case's sensitivity.

The tragic incident has ignited nationwide outrage and intensified scrutiny of the justice system as the trial progresses.
