Bhagwant Mann cannot escape vicarious liability of Sidhu Moosewala’s murder: Sunil Jakhar

Sunil Jakhar said the Punjab government changed its stand to suit its convenience.

Sidhu Moosewala murder case latest news: Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar on Saturday said the Punjab government led by CM Bhagwant Mann cannot escape the vicarious liability for the gruesome murder of singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala.

He said the state government on Friday had admitted in the Supreme Court that the pruning of security to Shubhdeep Sidhu alias Sidhu Moosewala by the state government led to the attack on him by gangsters which resulted in his death due to multiple gunshot injuries.

Sunil Jakhar said, “The Mann government first downgraded the security, then brazenly publicized it and also took credit for this decision. Now with this admission in the Court by the state advocate general, chief minister Bhagwant Mann remains equally culpable for the murder of Moosewala.”

Seeking punitive action against those responsible for downgrading the security of the singer, Sunil Jakhar said the Mann government changed its stand to suit its convenience.

“First they downgraded Moose Wala’s security and later admitted this decision led to the killing. Now the state is using this as an alibi to save its skin and to ensure that the road outside the CM residence in Chandigarh remains blocked much to the inconvenience of residents of the city and surrounding areas,” he said.

The information of this security pruning was broadcasted with impunity by leaders of the AAP to secure political brownie points, Jakhar maintained.

Sunil Jakhar accused the state government of following a ‘pick and choose’ policy of providing security to personalities. “Security and the magnitude of security to people should be strictly based on threat perception that needs to be evaluated from time to time without prejudice. If the security to Moose Wala had not been downgraded, he perhaps would not have been killed,” Sunil Jakhar lamented.
