The playoff matches will be spread across three venues this season due to operational and logistical considerations.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalised venues for the Indian Premier League playoffs, confirming that Ahmedabad will host the final on May 31 for the second consecutive season, according to the BCCI. The summit clash will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket venue.
The decision marks a shift from the initial plan, where Bengaluru was expected to stage the final in line with the tradition of awarding hosting rights to the defending champion’s home ground. However, the board cited issues related to local arrangements and requirements that did not align with its established protocols, leading to the relocation.
The playoff matches will be spread across three venues this season due to operational and logistical considerations. Qualifier 1 is scheduled for May 26 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, featuring the top two teams from the league stage, with the winner advancing directly to the final.
New Chandigarh’s New International Cricket Stadium will host the Eliminator on May 27 between the third and fourth-placed teams, followed by Qualifier 2 on May 29. The winner of Qualifier 2 will secure the remaining spot in the final.
This will be the first time Dharamsala hosts an IPL playoff match, adding a new venue to the tournament’s knockout stage lineup.
