Jaspreet says turban's honour matters more to him than money
Austria: A controversial incident involving a turban has come to light in Salzburg, Austria. Jaspreet, a Sikh youth who runs a trading firm in Mohali, has claimed that he was denied entry to the Cool Mama Hotel in Salzburg because he was wearing a turban. According to Jaspreet, he had made an online booking at the hotel on August 27, but upon arrival, the staff cited the dress code in relation to his turban.
Jaspreet alleges that after being denied entry, he cancelled his booking and requested a refund, but the hotel management refused to return the money. He shared a video of the entire incident on social media. Jaspreet stated that the honour of his turban means more to him than money, and that he had never had such an experience before.
On the other hand, the hotel management maintains that the dress code and rules are clearly listed on their website. According to the hotel, certain dress code regulations are in place to maintain the specific ambience of the restaurant. The incident involving the turban has now sparked fresh debate around religious identity and dress codes.
