The airline is scaling up operations from the current five weekly flights to a daily service.
Air India is set to restore daily non-stop flights between Delhi and Toronto starting August 1, delivering major relief to the Indian diaspora, particularly the large Punjabi community in Canada. The airline will operate these flights using its newly inducted Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, equipped with updated cabin interiors and premium seating options.
The decision marks the end of the technical refueling stop in Vienna, which was temporarily introduced last year. By eliminating the layover, the total travel time from Delhi to Toronto will be cut by nearly three hours, dropping from 20 hours to approximately 17 hours.
In addition to shorter travel times, the airline is scaling up operations from the current five weekly flights to a daily service. This increased frequency provides greater flexibility for students, business professionals, and families traveling between India and the Greater Toronto Area during peak travel months.
The introduction of the Boeing 787-9 aircraft also brings a dedicated Premium Economy cabin to this ultra-long-haul route for the first time. Passengers can expect an upgraded onboard experience alongside improved operational efficiency.
Air India Chief Executive Officer Campbell Wilson highlighted that the deployment of modern aircraft on key international routes remains a priority. This strategic shift aims to enhance passenger comfort while strengthening direct air connectivity between India and North America.
