A total of 17 individuals were named. So far, six accused have been sentenced.

In the highly talked-about gangrape case from Barnala, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Bikramjit Singh has taken a firm stance and delivered an important judicial verdict. The court found senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Dharminder Singh Gharyan Wale, Manoj Sharma alias Kala (resident of Panipat), and Lal Chand (resident of Barnala) guilty of gangrape and sentenced them to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment each. In the same case, the court sentenced three other accused — Lakhwinder Singh (resident of Bathinda) to 10 years, Baljit Kaur (resident of Bathinda) to 7 years, and Karamjit Kaur alias Aman (resident of Barnala) to 5 years of imprisonment.

On the other hand, after evaluating the evidence, the court honourably acquitted three police officers named in the case — Gulab Singh, Darshan Singh, and Karamjit Singh — of all charges, as the accusations against them could not be proven. According to the complainant's lawyer, Kulwant Goyal, a total of 17 individuals had been named in this highly publicized and sensitive case. So far, 6 accused have been sentenced, and three police officers have been acquitted, while the court's decision regarding the remaining 8 named individuals is still awaited. This long-awaited verdict has sparked widespread discussion across Barnala and the whole of Punjab.
