The agency told the court that additional time was needed to question the minister on certain aspects of the investigation.
A courtroom exchange unfolded in a Gurugram court on Friday as Punjab Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora’s counsel challenged the Enforcement Directorate’s request for extended custody, arguing that there was insufficient basis for further remand and maintaining that the minister had already cooperated with investigators in an ongoing ED investigation.
The hearing took place before Sessions Judge Narender Sura, where ED officials presented Arora and sought five days of custodial interrogation. The agency told the court that additional time was needed to question the minister on certain aspects of the investigation and verify details linked to the case. After hearing submissions from both sides, the court approved two days of ED remand instead of the five days requested.
The latest proceedings come amid an ongoing ED investigation into alleged irregularities. The agency told the court that further questioning was required regarding certain facts linked to the case.
