The minister said doctors were closely tracking the child's health and confirmed that his condition remained stable.
Medical teams in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district continued monitoring four-year-old Gurkarn Singh on Saturday after he was rescued from a borewell following an overnight rescue operation. Doctors treating the child said he was stable but remained under observation as a precaution after remaining trapped in the borewell for hours.
According to hospital officials, Gurkarn has shown mild symptoms linked to prolonged exposure to dust and soil, including slight eye irritation. Doctors stated that the child had been given fluids and necessary tests had already been conducted. Medical staff said he would remain under supervision for 48 hours and may be discharged by Monday if his recovery progresses without complications.
Punjab Jails Minister Dr Ravjot Singh, accompanied by senior medical officials, visited the government hospital to review the child’s condition and interact with family members. Speaking after the visit, the minister said doctors were closely tracking the child’s health and confirmed that his condition remained stable.
Gurkarn was rescued around 12.40 am after an operation involving rescue teams and local volunteers in Chak Samana village near Bhikhowal on the Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road. Officials said the child had fallen into the borewell while playing near his home and was trapped at a depth estimated between 20 and 30 feet before being brought out safely.
