In a massive drug bust operation, on Thursday, Punjab police cracked down on a cross-border drug cartel, arresting 6 accused involved.

DGP of Punjab police, Gurav Yadav, informed via X, " In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police dismantles a cross-border drug smuggling cartel, apprehends six accused, and recovers 30.045 Kg of Heroin."

He also stated that the accused were linked to a Dubai-based smuggler, who coordinated the trafficking of drugs across the international border.

"Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused were linked to a Dubai-based smuggler who was involved in heroin consignments from across the border. Acting on his directions, the accused retrieved the consignments from designated locations and further distributed them to various recipients across Punjab."

An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act at PS Chheharta, Amritsar.

 
"Further investigation is underway to establish backward and forward linkages, identify other associates involved in the network, trace the financial trail, and uncover possible hawala connections," read Yadav's tweet.
