A major redevelopment initiative has been launched at Amritsar’s Golden Temple complex to enhance the stretch connecting Guru Ramdas Langar Hall to Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Sahib. The project is being carried out jointly by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Kar Seva Bhuri Wale, with the work formally commencing after a special Ardas ceremony.
SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said the plan had been under discussion for a considerable time and has now been put into action under a structured master plan aimed at improving both the beauty and functionality of the route. He described the sacred site as a spiritual centre for devotees across the world and said the project reflects the committee’s commitment to preserving its sanctity while ensuring better facilities.
As part of the renovation, plantation work will be undertaken along the pathway to create a greener environment. The infrastructure upgrade will also include a modern drainage system to address waterlogging concerns and improve overall cleanliness in the area.
Dhami urged devotees and members of the Sangat to participate in the seva with dedication and support, saying collective contribution would help complete the work efficiently.
Baba Kashmir Singh, head of Kar Seva Bhuri Wale, said the route serves thousands of visitors every day as it connects key points within the complex, including Teja Singh Samundri Hall, Guru Hargobind Sahib Yatri Niwas, Mata Ganga Ji Niwas and Guru Arjan Dev Yatri Niwas.
He assured that all efforts would be made to finish the project at the earliest while ensuring minimal inconvenience to pilgrims visiting the shrine.
