The Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved a one-time settlement scheme for 19.34 lakh consumers
There is big relief for approximately 19.34 lakh electricity consumers in Punjab who are grappling with outstanding electricity bill payments. The Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) has approved a One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme.
Under this scheme, long-pending electricity bills can now be settled at a simple interest rate of just 6% per annum. The requirement to pay the entire amount in a lump sum has also been waived; consumers can deposit 25% of the amount and pay the balance in up to six monthly installments.
Confirming the Regulatory Commission's decision, Commission member Ravinder Singh Saini told Dainik Jagran that this decision would undoubtedly benefit both Powercom and its consumers. While Powercom's outstanding dues will be cleared, consumers who had not paid their bills for various reasons will now be able to settle them easily. Consequently, their electricity supply will remain uninterrupted.
