Senior 2010-batch IPS officer replaces Gurpreet Singh Bhullar

Chandigarh: DIG Harmanbir Singh Gill of Border Range Amritsar has been appointed by the Punjab Government as the new Police Commissioner (CP) of Amritsar. He will be replaced into the role currently held by IPS officer Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.

Harmanbir Singh Gill is recognised as a senior IPS officer of the 2010 batch. Services are currently being rendered by him as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Border Range in Amritsar, and additional charge of the post of Police Commissioner (CP) of Amritsar is also being held by him. He has been widely discussed for the campaign led by him against cross-border drone-based drug smuggling and gangsters, including 'Operation Prahar'.

Recently, an SHO found negligent while on duty was personally suspended by him during a surprise checking operation. For the maintenance of law and order and for outstanding services rendered, he has been conferred with the 'Union Home Minister's Special Operation Medal' (2022) and the 'Police Medal for Meritorious Service'. Prior to this posting, important administrative positions such as DIG Ferozepur Range, PAP Jalandhar, and IRB Patiala have also been held by him.
