Varanasi turned into a high-security and high-energy zone on Wednesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow drew massive public participation during his two-day visit to the city. Long stretches of roads were packed with supporters and residents who gathered to witness the convoy.
The highlight of the visit was the Prime Minister’s darshan at the Kashi Vishwanath temple, where he offered prayers amid Vedic chants and performed traditional rituals. Local representatives welcomed him at the temple complex and presented symbolic items including a trident, damru and ceremonial stole.
Before reaching the temple, the roadshow travelled across major city points such as Banaras Locomotive Works, Lahartara, Kachehri, Ambedkar Chauraha, Chaukaghat, Teliabagh, Lajurabir and Maidagin. The nearly 14-kilometre route witnessed flower showers, drum beats and chants from supporters.
Security arrangements were intensified across the entire route, with officials managing large crowds that lined both sides of the roads. BJP workers and local residents remained present throughout the procession.
After the temple visit, Modi posted on X that he felt blessed to visit Baba Vishwanath and prayed for the prosperity and well-being of citizens. He also mentioned offering prayers at Maa Ganga and Maa Annapurna, seeking peace and positive energy.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Ganga Expressway project in Uttar Pradesh, marking another major infrastructure push during his visit.
