CJP says it will begin Jail Bharo Andolan if not allowed to protest on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has made a major announcement after Maharashtra police denied it permission to hold a protest on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, over controversies involving the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. The party has said that if it is not allowed to protest on Gandhi Jayanti, it will begin a Jail Bharo Andolan.
On Sunday (September 27, 2026), the CJP shared a picture of Mahatma Gandhi on the social media platform X. The post read: "Important notice! Mumbai Police has refused to give us permission for a peaceful protest. After the right to vote, the right to protest is now being taken away from us."
The party added, "If we are not given permission to protest this Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will start a Jail Bharo Andolan."
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, in a post from his personal X account, said, "Mumbai Police has refused permission for our protest. Using such tactics to suppress the voice of citizens is completely unacceptable."
Earlier, on Friday (September 25, 2026), Dipke had said in an X post that if CEC Gyanesh Kumar did not resign from his post by the next day (Saturday, September 26), the Cockroach Janta Party would launch a nationwide protest from Mumbai on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, and take it to every city in the country. "Let us take a pledge to save democracy this Gandhi Jayanti," he had added.
