 Social activist Anna Hazare on Wednesday sent a formal letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing the recent police action and violence during student demonstrations in New Delhi as deeply painful. The veteran anti-corruption leader emphasized that democratic governance relies fundamentally on constructive dialogue rather than physical confrontation or state suppression.

Hazare addressed the ongoing national outrage surrounding allegations of paper leaks and exam rigging in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Opposition parties, including the Congress and Cockroach Janata Party, have been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over these administrative lapses.

Backing calls for systemic accountability, Hazare noted that accepting a minister's resignation would not weaken or unseat the ruling government. Instead, he argued that establishing top-level accountability sends a strong warning to the entire cabinet, encouraging better performance and ensuring that department heads remain strictly responsible for institutional failures.

The Gandhian leader urged the administration to stop treating widespread student unrest purely as a law-and-order issue. He highlighted that millions of young citizens face severe distress due to paper leaks, delayed recruitment drives, and rising unemployment, making their protests a genuine reflection of societal angst.

Concluding his letter, Hazare criticized the practice of scapegoating lower-level officials while top leadership takes credit for successes.
