Taken to hospital on 20th day of hunger strike
Delhi Police took Sonam Wangchuk—who has been on a hunger strike at Delhi's Jantar Mantar for the past 21 days—to the hospital this morning. Prior to this, Abhijeet Deepke, founder of the "Cockroach Janata Party" (CJP), had claimed that during the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar, some people attempted to attack social activist Sonam Wangchuk.
According to him, a stone was thrown at Wangchuk, but he was not injured. In a social media post late Friday night, Deepke said that he had already warned a few days earlier that people would be sent to disrupt the protest.
He said he received this information from an internal police source. Deepke further stated that if anything happens to Wangchuk, the government will be held responsible. Wangchuk is on a hunger strike over several demands, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, in connection with the paper leak case.
