Karnataka is positioning itself as the epicenter of India’s digital evolution with a transformative plan to become the country’s first AI-native state. This vision moves beyond simple technological adoption, aiming to embed Artificial Intelligence directly into governance and public services to improve the daily lives of citizens.

The state’s roadmap for this transition includes two flagship infrastructure projects. First, the government is establishing India’s premier government-driven AI University. This institution is designed to bridge the gap between academic research and industry requirements, cultivating a pipeline of high-level talent to lead future innovations.

Complementing this educational endeavor, the state will launch a specialized AI Hub. Serving as a dedicated incubation center, the facility is tailored to support startups and Global Capability Centres. By providing the resources needed for research and development, the hub will accelerate the transition of theoretical AI models into scalable products.

This ambitious strategy is built upon an already formidable foundation. Currently, Karnataka generates nearly 40 per cent of India’s total software exports. With Bengaluru acting as a massive engine, housing over 17,000 startups, the state is uniquely prepared to scale these new initiatives for the global market.

By integrating large-scale education with practical incubation, Karnataka is establishing a new national blueprint. The focus remains on responsible innovation, ensuring that Artificial Intelligence functions as a fundamental utility for progress rather than just a commercial tool.
