KEM College, Mumbai, suspended Sejal Pawar due to her comments about comparing the genitalia of male candavers.
Mumbai: A Comment Made by Sejal Pawar at Pranit More's Show nearly three months ago has now become a reason for her 15-day suspension.
Pawar, during the crowd work segment at More's show 'Jokingly,' talked about comparing the size of male cadavers' genitalia, which went viral online. The comments triggered widespread public outrage, with people calling the comments unethical.
Earlier, the Deen of the KEM Hospital, Dr. Harshit M. Pathak, had talked about initiating an enquiry regarding the comments made by the student.
“Yesterday, we received information that a video was being widely circulated on social media where one of our students was seen making objectionable comments about dead bodies. This is highly unacceptable. We are highly sensitive about respecting the dead, especially when someone donates their body for medical education, with a lot of emotions. I constituted a two-member committee yesterday to inquire into the matter, and by late evening today, I expect their report, after which appropriate action will be taken," said KEM Hospital Dean Dr Harish M Pathak
Now, following that inquiry, the college authorities have suspended Pawar for 15 days.
Pawar had also posted a video on her Instagram account and had apologised for the comment made by her. In the Video she had said that she takes full responsibility for what she had said and understands how her words could have been interpreted differently.
