PMMY Marks 11 Years: Driving Self-Employment and Business Growth Nationwide
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday highlighted the impact of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) as the scheme completed 11 years since its launch. The program has been recognized for promoting self-employment among youth and supporting micro and small enterprises across the country.
Launched in April 2015, PMMY provides collateral-free loans to help entrepreneurs start and expand small businesses. Over the years, it has become one of the government’s flagship initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, creating jobs, and encouraging economic participation, particularly among young people and women.
The Prime Minister noted that the success of the scheme demonstrates how providing the right opportunities enables individuals to become self-reliant while contributing to national progress. In a social media message marking the anniversary, he shared a Sanskrit subhashitam emphasizing wisdom, perseverance, and resilience in the face of challenges.
Since its inception, PMMY has provided access to finance for a large number of small business owners, supporting self-employment and local economic activity. The scheme continues to offer resources that help entrepreneurs start, grow, and sustain their businesses.
As PMMY marks its 11-year milestone, the program is recognized for its role in encouraging entrepreneurship and contributing to broader economic development across India.
