Kejriwal warns Meta against "bowing down" to the government

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the AAP, announced on Thursday that his social media account has been blocked in India and asked Meta why. Kejriwal claimed in a post on X that his account had been blocked and was not accessible in India after contacting Meta's India office.

He said that corporate representatives had routinely acknowledged his emails and had not explained why the limitation was in place or how it could be lifted.

Meta did not immediately provide a reaction on the subject. Kejriwal also shared a screenshot of his account status page showing the message, "Unavailable in some locations".

Calling the lack of clarity and response from the company "pretty bad service", he said in his post, "Don't bow down to the prime minister, else he will allow you to run only his own account in India."

The allegation surfaced shortly after Meta faced criticism over a separate issue involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Facebook account. Earlier this week, the company came under scrutiny after one of the Prime Minister’s posts was mistakenly restricted. A senior Meta executive later clarified that the action was the result of an error, restored the post once the issue was identified, and issued an apology, stressing that the moderation decision was unintentional.

In reference to that incident, Arvind Kejriwal questioned Meta’s handling of his case. He argued that while the company acted quickly to acknowledge and correct the mistake related to the Prime Minister’s account, it has yet to offer any explanation or response to his claims that his account has been subjected to repeated restrictions.
