Weather Update Today Latest News Today: A shift in weather patterns has brought relief to large parts of northwest India, as ongoing western disturbances have led to cooler temperatures and intermittent rainfall across the region. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has cautioned that unstable conditions are set to continue, with another system expected to impact the area early next week.

According to the IMD, the current spell of rain and thunderstorms, which began on April 2, is likely to persist, while a fresh western disturbance around April 7–8 could trigger hailstorms in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.

The change in weather has led to a noticeable dip in daytime temperatures, which are expected to remain at or below normal levels over the coming week. This has provided temporary respite from the rising heat that had begun to affect several regions.

On Saturday, temperatures across most parts of the country ranged between 34°C and 40°C, with Jharsuguda in Odisha recording the highest maximum temperature at 41.6°C. In contrast, northern and northeastern regions experienced relatively milder conditions.

Night temperatures also showed variation, with northern states such as Punjab and Haryana recording lows between 12°C and 18°C. Bathinda in Punjab registered one of the lowest minimum temperatures at 14.6°C.

The IMD has also forecast rainfall activity in eastern states, with West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar expected to receive showers on April 7 and 8, while Jharkhand may witness rainfall between April 5 and 7.

In Delhi, both maximum and minimum temperatures have dropped slightly over the past 24 hours, with daytime temperatures hovering around 33–34°C and nighttime readings between 18–21°C.

While the current conditions offer short-term relief, the weather agency has earlier warned that several eastern and central regions of the country may still experience above-normal heatwave days during the April–June period.

Authorities have advised residents to remain alert during periods of thunderstorms and possible hail, particularly in vulnerable areas, as fluctuating weather conditions continue to impact large parts of the country.
