UP ATS Busts ISI-Linked Terror Module, 4 Arrested in Lucknow
The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad has arrested four individuals from Lucknow in connection with a suspected terror module. The accused have been identified as Saquib alias David and Arbab from Meerut, and Vikas Gehlawat and Lokesh from Gautam Budh Nagar.
According to officials, the arrests were made following specific inputs about their activities. The ATS traced the suspects and apprehended them. During the operation, a can containing chemicals, seven mobile phones, some pamphlets, and Aadhaar cards were recovered.
Investigators said the group was allegedly planning to carry out blasts at multiple locations, including railway signal boxes, crowded areas, vehicles carrying gas cylinders, and premises of reputed organisations. Lucknow railway station was identified as their first target.
Saquib, by profession a barber, headed the gang. Officials said he was in contact with handlers based in Pakistan through social media platforms such as Telegram and Instagram.
The police stated that the module was linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and was aimed at creating terror through coordinated attacks.
