Jharkhand Air Ambulance Crash Latest News Today: A preliminary investigation into the fatal air ambulance crash in Jharkhand has raised the possibility that the aircraft may have broken apart mid-air, following the discovery of debris scattered over a wide area.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), in its initial report, highlighted a debris trail stretching nearly one kilometre, suggesting structural failure before the aircraft hit the ground. The crash occurred on February 23 near Kasiyatu village in Chatra district, claiming the lives of all seven people on board, including pilots, medical staff, a patient, and attendants.
The aircraft, identified as a Beechcraft King Air C90A operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, lost contact during its cruise phase. According to investigators, the last communication with air traffic control was recorded just minutes before the crash, leaving a narrow window between normal operations and the incident.

Both engines were discovered detached from the wings, while parts of the tail and wings were scattered across several hundred metres. The main fuselage and cockpit area were severely damaged, reinforcing suspicions of an in-flight breakup.
Despite the severity of the crash, the report notes that the aircraft had valid certifications and had recently undergone inspection. The crew, both experienced pilots, had not reported any technical issues during earlier operations on the same day.
Weather conditions, including cloud build-up and possible thunderstorm activity, are being examined as part of the investigation. However, officials have not yet established a direct link between weather and the crash. Notably, no distress signal was transmitted, and the emergency locator system failed to activate.
Authorities have secured key components for further analysis, including engine parts and fuel samples. The probe has also been expanded internationally, with inputs sought from global aviation bodies to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Investigators say the inquiry is ongoing, and a detailed report will be issued once all technical and operational aspects have been thoroughly examined.
