Delhi Govt Tightens LPG Supply Rules, PNG Application Now Mandatory for Businesses
Commercial and industrial consumers in Delhi will now need to meet additional conditions to access LPG supplies, following revised rules issued by the Department of Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs on April 2.
As per the updated provisions, businesses in areas where piped natural gas infrastructure is available must either obtain or apply for a PNG connection to remain eligible for commercial LPG cylinders. Consumers must also be registered with the concerned oil marketing company to receive supply.
For areas where PNG networks are yet to be developed, consumers will be required to submit an application indicating their intent to shift to PNG once it becomes available.
Officials said oil marketing companies will ensure compliance with the new requirements. They have been directed to verify consumer documents at least once as part of the process.
Information related to consumers who express willingness to transition to PNG will be shared with Indraprastha Gas Limited for further action.
The changes come as part of an amendment to a key clause in the Delhi government’s recent policy governing the distribution of commercial LPG cylinders. The revised norms aim to regulate supply conditions across different categories of consumers.
