Artists speak out against alleged voter list irregularities and back citizens' right to protest
New Delhi: Actor Naseeruddin Shah joined a protest at Mumbai's Shivaji Park demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Despite the police having denied permission, actress Shabana Azmi and musician Vishal Dadlani also took part in the protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).
Several celebrities, including Sherlyn Chopra and Vishal Bhardwaj, raised their voices against the government. The presence of these Bollywood personalities drew a large crowd to the protest site. The artists spoke out against alleged irregularities in the voter list and openly backed the right of citizens to protest.
A video of Naseeruddin Shah from the protest has surfaced on social media. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke shared the video, in which Shah is seen hugging the organiser, Abhijeet, and thanking him. Abhijeet said he is a huge fan of Naseeruddin Shah and that having him at the protest felt like a dream come true.
